About the Author

Tan Lay Tin was a secondary school teacher before she retired early in 1997 because of medical reasons. Prior to her retirement, she was teaching English Language and History at Upper Secondary level. She also spent six years in the Ministry of Education, three of which were spent writing History textbooks. After her retirement, she did some freelance teaching and editing until she was struck with stroke in 2005.
